I have been practising yoga since 1982 and finally pursued my lifelong wish to teach by qualifying as an Introductory teacher with the IY(UK) in 2013. I continue to study regularly and enjoy attending conventions and workshops at any available opportunity.
I was lucky enough to travel to India in 2014 and attend classes at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, being taught directly by members of the Iyengar family.
I believe that Yoga can be practised by all regardless of age, gender, religion, suppleness and fitness. I feel that the Iyengar system allows this through its method of systematic teaching and the use of props, resulting in access to tremendous health benefits for all whatever their way of life. My own life has certainly been enriched as I have journeyed from the non-sporty, last-in-games wallflower to confidently enjoying fulfilling my potential physically, mentally and spiritually.
It is indeed an art, science and philosophy.
